Healing & Salvation

I believe in God’s healing, how could I not? Growing up in a Christian family, I have heard testimonies of God’s miracles. I can tell you how God has healed the lives of my family and friends; I can tell you about people showing up to the doctor appointments, ready for a surgery, and suddenly, they don’t need it anymore. We can talk about the miracle growing in Gaby’s belly. I can tell you about the nights that felt endless, because I was praying for my own healing. The waiting is not easy. I know – I get it, I’ve been there. Praying and believing becomes harder when you are in the midst of the waiting season. Sometimes, the miracle looked different from what you prayed for – sometimes the miracle doesn’t happen the way you asked for. Faith grows tired, disappointment becomes loud, and bitterness seeps in. But your story doesn’t need to end there. You just need to wait on God. God heals, I have witnessed it - God has done it before and He will do it again.

A Blind Beggar Receives His Sight

35 As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. 36 When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening. 37 They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” 38 He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 39 Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 40 Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him, 41 “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord, I want to see,” he replied. 42 Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” 43 Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.

Luke 18 NIV

Reading this, I was reminded that all it takes is one encounter with God. The blind man must have spent years begging on the side of the road. He had no where to go, nothing else to do. But in just one moment, Jesus changed his life. Sometimes our waiting season feels like that; like we are sitting on the side of the road begging.

If we believe in a God that has plans for hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11), then we can trust that He will come through. If we believe in a God that wants us to have an abundant life (John 10:10), then we can trust that He will give us what we need. If we believe in a God that pursues us (Ezekiel 34:11), then we can trust that He will finish what He started (Philippians 1:6). Keep praying. Keep reading His word. Keep going to Him. God is with you. In just one moment, God healed the blind beggar. In just one moment, God can heal you. In just one moment, God can redeem you. We just have to wait and trust that He will.

I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
