Physical & Spiritual Healing
When we are in need of healing, it usually means that we've been hurt or harmed by something. It can be a physical harm, like an illness or disease that is attacking your body. It may be an emotional hurt that was caused by someone you love or care about. Mental harm can come from damaging and discouraging thoughts. Negative or threatening words and actions can hurt you. And, at times, you may even feel hurt by God, maybe because prayers weren't answered the way you wanted them to be, or provision didn't come in the form you expected, or justice wasn't served the way you thought it should. It can leave you feeling hurt by the One who loves you unconditionally, asking "why God?!".
In the moments I have found myself asking that question, I have often wished that the answer would come quickly. It can be exhausting praying for the same thing over and over, desperate for healing in one way or another. Exhaustion can lead to the lack of belief that healing will ever come, and a lack of trust that God will do what we know He can do. I encourage you, instead of giving in to that feeling, hold tight to the promise that God will do what is best for your good and for His glory.
Romans 8:28: And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
We can't begin to know His thoughts. So when we see that He has healed one person from disease but not another, or sets free someone from addiction while someone else is held captive, or performs a miracle instantaneously and other times takes His time (or so we may feel), let's not become overwhelmed or consumed by asking "why God?".
Remind yourself that He alone can mend your broken heart. He alone can restore you from sin. He alone can heal your body. He alone has the Power and in that you can trust that He is doing all things for your good and His glory.
Remember these scriptures and pray them over areas where you are seeking healing:
Psalm 103:2-4: Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy
Matthew 11:28-30: Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light
Psalm 34:18: The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit
Isaiah 53:5: But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed
Romans 12:12: Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer
Prayer: God, I don't always understand Your ways, but I trust You today for physical and spiritual healing as You see fit for my good and Your glory.
