Prayer & Fasting 2022 // Day 10

“Jesus is sufficient” is easy to declare when all our needs are met - When our bellies are full, bills are paid, and friendships abound. God has always showed up for me in such miraculous ways and usually just in the nick of time. Recently, I've been noticing more and more the earthly provisions have lingered away a little longer than what I am comfortable with. So I have to ask myself: do I find Jesus sufficient only because all my earthly needs have been met? Or, is he sufficient because he truly is enough?
“Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’”
2 Corinthians 12:8-9
I have pleaded with the Lord much like Paul did, and sometimes my relief came swiftly and sometimes it seemed delayed. But, through the waiting I found my worrying and fear a sufficient sacrifice to offer up to the Lord. He is so good that he will even take our doubt as a sacrifice unto him. The question is: will you hold on to the worry, fear, and doubt believing that it will get you what you need or to where you want to be? Or will you release it to the Father and trust that his power will be made perfect in your weakness and that you actually do have all you need if you have Jesus.
This portion of scripture in Psalms has been a source of comfort for me in this time of waiting. It serves as a reminder that regardless of what I lack, serving Him is pleasant and it reminds me of where my true inheritance lies.
“The Lord is the portion of my inheritance, my cup [He is all I need];You support my lot. The [boundary] lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; Indeed, my heritage is beautiful to me.”
Psalm 16:5-6
