Prayer & Fasting 2022 // Day 3

Enter Devo Every year I pray, seeking a personal word from the Lord by which to be able to keep me stable as time progresses. This year the word I got was manifest, and my initial thoughts were along the lines of manifesting what you believe you will see in the new year by declaring and trusting that if I ask for something within God's Will, it will become apparent in my life.

I felt Proverbs 8:21 was a good inspirational verse to remind me of this:

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits."

I later shared my word with my girlfriend, an avid lover of period dramas, and she had an entirely different perspective based on a show she was recently watching. She spoke about a ship's manifest and looked up the definition on Merriam Webster; Manifest: a document giving comprehensive details of a vessel and its cargo and other contents, passengers and crew for the use of customs officers. She then asked this question, "what are you carrying?"

And so I ask you too, going into 2022, what are you carrying?

Are you carrying fatigue and despair that this pandemic continues to ravage our lives, or are you carrying the promise that "no weapon formed against you shall prosper?"

Isaiah 54:17

Are you carrying hurts and hang-ups from the past not fully turned over to the Lord? He says to "cast all your anxieties on him [Jesus] because he cares for you."

1 Peter 5:7

Maybe it's not even about the negative things you carry. Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the greatness and purpose that God intentionally placed within you. God's Word is our manifest; within its covers are the details of who we are and what He had placed within us. God calls you chosen, beloved, royal, and very good. He has placed within you gifts and purposes that only you can accomplish in this lifetime.

We are carrying His light for the world of darkness that will be hampered if we continue to bog ourselves down with anxiety, fear, and negative talk.

Let's seek His Word this year to know who He says we are, what words of life we are to repeat over ourselves every day, and what treasures we carry within us to be shared with those who are lost and lonely in this world. Let's let go of our focus on death and speak life and victory today and every day in 2022!
