Prayer & Fasting 2022 // Day 2
Jeovy Coloma
January 18, 2022
This past year was full of challenges and everything felt difficult. The weight of things I was carrying and was trying to heal from left me feeling hopeless. With all the loss I experienced and fear of things to come, I was left wondering if I will ever feel the peace I used to know. I didn’t question God because I knew He is always present. However, I did wonder why I still felt so hopeless? A friend asked me, “what do you know about God to be true?” My current feelings and circumstances clouded what I knew to be true about God. I had to open up my Bible, regardless of how I was feeling, and re-learn what I knew about God. I had no other choice. Trust me, I spent many sleepless nights fighting for peace. I know feelings and circumstances are difficult to ignore; but go to God. The feelings and circumstances didn’t change, but my heart did.
“The instructions of the Lord are perfect, reviving the soul. The decrees of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. The commandments of the Lord are right, bringing joy to the heart. The commands of the Lord are clear, giving insight for living. Reverence for the Lord is pure, lasting forever. The laws of the Lord are true; each one is fair.”
Psalms 19: 7-9 NLT
I opened up my Bible to remember what I knew was true about God. Our hearts and emotions may deceive us, but we must stand firm in truth. And we learn about this truth by reading the Bible and meditating on His word. His Word is perfect, trustworthy, right, clear, pure, and true. By reading His Word, your soul will be revived. By reading His Word, you will become wiser. By reading His Word, you will find joy. By reading His Word, you will have insight. His Word is fair, and it will last forever. Regardless of your feelings and circumstances, go to God. Read His Word. His Word is perfect, and it revives your soul.
